VPS hosting for Minecraft: how to choose a server

Edition, player count, mods, region, and backups matter more than a brand name on the plan.

A Minecraft world is a long-lived process with a hot working set. Pick the Noble VPS region closest to the players, then size RAM for the view distance and modpack, not for the screenshot on the download page.

Java Edition with mods wants more RAM and a steady CPU. Bedrock is lighter. NVMe helps world saves and chunk I/O. Do not skip backups — a corrupted region file is not a ticket we can reverse.

Start on Knight or Baron if you are unsure, watch TPS and memory for a week, and upgrade before the lag becomes the culture of the server.
